Wirbel-Lab at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research

I joined the PMIG group as a PhD researcher in May 2025. I hold an MSc in Life Science Informatics from the University of Bonn and a BSc in Microbiology from Tehran Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences. My background sits at the intersection of biology and computation, and over the years I have gradually shifted from wet-lab work toward building computational pipelines and tools for biomedical research. In the PMIG group, I am working on computational approaches to analyse longitudinal metagenomic data, with a focus on tracking microbial genome variation over time. I am particularly interested in how microbial communities change within a host and what that means for health and disease.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through gym sessions and long walks, cooking, picking up new skills or languages, and curling up at home with good snacks and a movie.
